बीमा विनियामक विकास प्राधिकरण (IRDAI) ने अब life और general insurance licensing exams को consolidate कर दिया है। IC-38 exam अब दोनों प्रकार के बीमा को कवर करता है और यह उन सभी के लिए एक अनिवार्य परीक्षा है जो भारत में licensed insurance agent बनना चाहते हैं।
IC-38 परीक्षा का उद्देश्य है कि insurance बेचने वाले व्यक्तियों को इस क्षेत्र की मूलभूत जानकारी और उनकी जिम्मेदारियों की स्पष्ट समझ हो। परीक्षा में बैठने से पहले IRDAI द्वारा अनुमोदित प्रशिक्षण (training) अनिवार्य होता है।
यह परीक्षा एक online multiple-choice test होती है जिसमें 50 प्रश्न होते हैं — हर प्रश्न 1 अंक का होता है। पास होने के लिए कम से कम 18 अंक (35%) लाना आवश्यक है। Negative marking नहीं है।
परीक्षा syllabus में insurance का concept, market structure (बाजार संरचना), principles और ethical sales practices (नैतिक विक्रय पद्धतियाँ) जैसे महत्वपूर्ण विषय शामिल हैं।
